Why this profession?

I have always been very interested in biology and medicine. It started in high school, where my major subjects were biology and geography. After graduating, I first completed an apprenticeship as a surgical assistant. Afterwards I decided to study biology and did my bachelor and master degree at the Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel. During my studies I quickly realized that I wanted to become a phD.

So I decided to work in a research field which contains both of my passions, biology and medicine and where I can put different molecular processes in a complex.

Why RTG Genes, Environment and Inflammation?

The Research Training Group “Genes, Environment and Inflammation” is a good opportunity to interact and cooperate with many scientists, who all have individual projects and which are experts on their research fields. Also the RTG offers me the possibility to work as a biological scientist in a research field with medical and clinical relevance, because the RTG includes biology, genetic and medicine and gives me the chance to develop my soft-skills.
